HILLARY CLINTON PROPOSES TO GIVE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS DRIVERS LICENSES?

Does Hillary Clinton want to give illegal immigrants driver's licenses?  Yes.  Does she have a good explanation, as to why we should?  No.  I found a video on youtube that shows a democratic debate with Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Chris Dodd.  I like the video because it is an important subject that all states are dealing with, illegal immigrants driving on our roads without a driver's license or insurance.  Is this dangerous for us?  Of course it is.  I think every person on the road should be required to have a driver's license and insurance at all times.

As Clinton explains, there "are several million in New York, illegally...the possibility of them having an accident that harms themselves or others is just a matter of odds."  She goes on to say as she had said to members of the media, she supports the Mayor of New York's plan to give illegal immigrants driver's licenses.  According to Hillary, there needs to be a way to identify who the person was that you got in an accident with.  Furthermore, she explains the fact that Bush has failed with immigration reform, and the Mayor of New York has no choice but to give the illegal immigrants driver's licenses.  I think that is a load of crap.  There are other ways around the fact that illegal immigrants are driving on our roads.  There should be mandated identification cards, temporary licenses given to a select few, there has to be other ways around that issue.  I think that Senator Chris Dodd would agree with me entirely.  His rebuttal to what Hillary said in regards to this issue was strong, and as he said, giving three different kinds of identifications to people, "would be a bureaucratic nightmare."  Check out the youtube clip and decide for yourself...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BOuHybfmmY .  At about half way through the video Senator Chris Dodd expresses his opinion, where he explains that a driver's license is a priviledge not a right.  Which I do agree with.  Any person can just go in and get a driver's license? Are you kidding?  That is extremely dangerous.  Doesn't the United States have enough deaths caused by car accidents as it is.  Clinton's rebuttal is very simple, and frankly, not very convincing. She said, "what are we going to do with all the illegal immigrants driving on the road... what is the identification, if someone runs into you on the road..."  Senator Chris Dodd, explains that there are other ways around that issue, and again stresses the fact that a driver's license is a priviledge.

To me, it seems that immigration reform has not been working, and the same issues we had five years ago are still reoccurring.  the fact of the matter is that there are millions of illegal immigrants driving on the roads of America.  How are we going to protect ourselves, and our investments (cars) from an illegal immigrant smashing into our car without insurance.  Accidents can cost thousands of dollars, of which many illegal immigrants do not have.  So if they don't have insurance, what are you going to do?  Take them to court?  Sure, waste your time, I am sure you will get a judgement in your favor but how are they going to pay you.  Many of them are holding under-the-table cash positions and in many cases aren't even paying taxes.  How would the government garnish wages?  They wouldn't be able to.  What is to say that the illegal immigrant wouldn't go back to his or her home country to avoid the legal problems they have created, which is also a common occurrence.  We need a new immigration policy, or at the least, a very serious reform of that policy!
